With 'Group Video Calls 2.0', Telegram Group Calling Goes Up From 30 To 1,000

Telegram app update with Group Video Calls 2.0

Despite the world is recovering from the 'COVID-19' coronavirus pandemic, people are already used to group callings, that Telegram is ramping things up.

And that improvement is huge, as the privacy-focused messaging service is increasing group video call participants from a mere 30, to a 1,000.

It should be noted that the maximum number of people able to participate and broadcast to the video call remains at 30. But with the update, users can have more audience for “anything from online lectures to live rap battles.”

In a blog post, Telegram calls this update the 'Group Video Calls 2.0'.

This announcement comes months after .

As Telegram said when it first launched the feature, it was always planning on increasing the number of people that can join a group chat, as it expands its voice and video calls to support live events. In its announcement, the company said it'll keep on increasing the limit.

As for video messages, Telegram announces 'Video Messages 2.0', which allows users to share messages in higher resolutions, and allowing users to expand them.

"Tapping on an expanded video message pauses it and gives you the opportunity to fast forward or rewind the message in case you missed a word," explained Telegram.

To record a video message, all users have to do is tap on the microphone icon on the message bar, in order to switch from voice message to video message.

They can then press and hold to record, and tap on the camera icon to switch back.

"Audio from your device will keep playing as you record so you can now sing along to your favorite songs or reply without pausing your podcast. Additionally, recording with your rear camera lets you pinch to zoom in and capture things at a distance or add a dramatic effect (eerie music not included)," added Telegram.

In addition, the media player on Telegram can finally support various speeds, including 0.5x, 1.5x and 2x playback speeds.

Other additions include screen sharing for one-on-one video calls, the option to auto-delete messages after a month — the longest option was previously a week — and more precise drawing.

Telegram has also improve user experience.

For example there is the quick-copy timestamp links ability, which allows users to easily share any timecode, more password reset options, which should help users recover their password in 7 days if they don’t have a recovery password, and more animated emoji.

This Telegram update is packed with a clear-focus feature-improving additions, which mainly enhance things on the video sector.

For this reason, this update is a bit large.
