AI once stirred only within its own circle, barely making waves beyond the tech elite. But that all changed.
When OpenAI introduced ChatGPT, it ignited a global fascination with Large Language Models (LLMs), revealing their vast potential beyond basic automation. What followed was an all-out arms race, as tech giants and startups alike scrambled to claim their stake in the rapidly expanding AI landscape.
Now, with the market buzzing and options aplenty, standing out requires more than just keeping up—it demands innovation, refinement, and purpose.
Among the contenders is Perplexity, which began its life as an AI to reinvent internet searches.
After raising the bar with Perplexity Assistant, which boasts feature that go beyond casual interaction—offering contextual, intelligent assistance that’s always within reach.
This time, it's going a step further.
Today we're launching Perplexity Labs.
Labs is for your more complex tasks. It's is like having an entire team at your disposal.

Perplexity has launched what it calls 'Perplexity Labs,' capable of:
- Generating and executing code for data structuring, formula application, and chart creation.
- Organizing outputs such as charts, images, CSV files, and code in an "Assets" tab for easy access.
- Developing mini web applications within an "App" tab, enabling the creation of interactive dashboards and slideshows without external tools.
Available to Pro subscribers, Labs extends beyond traditional search by offering tools to create reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, and even simple web applications.
In short, the feature is designed to transform user ideas into fully realized projects.
By leveraging deep web browsing, code execution, and visual content generation, Labs can accomplish in approximately 10 minutes tasks that traditionally required days of work.
In a blog post, Perplexity said that:

While Labs can do many things similar to what what its Deep Research feature can do, Perplexity clarifies that the latter remains the fastest way to obtain comprehensive answers to in-depth questions— typically within 3 or 4 minutes.
What Labs excels at, is its ability to leverage additional tools, which empowers users to develop a broader array of deliverables for their projects.
In order to make things sound less redundant, Perplexity plans to rename Deep Research to just 'Research,' in order to reflect its position as a tool residing between Perplexity’s Search and Labs modes.
