Instagram Introduces 'Collections' For Users To Organize Their Saved Posts

Instagram saved post

Previously, Instagram has added a feature that allows users to save their posts. Putting that feature into a better use, on April 17th, 2017, Instagram is introducing a way for users to save those photos into their own private collection.

Not a big change whatsoever since Collections are just folders for saved images. But it's indeed convenient.

For users that have saved dozens or more photos, things can go out of hand since sorting photos can be a tedious task. This is where Collection plays its role.

Users can tap and hold the bookmark icon underneath any post to save it directly to a collection. They can create and name a new collection when they save a post, or they can add it to one they've already created.

Users can also create a collection out of their existing saved posts. By tapping the '+' icon located in the top-right corner, users can give their collection a name and select the saved post they would like to add.

Instagram - Collection

The save post feature that was introduced back in December was an anticipated and one of the most-wanted feature. It's a small feature that Instagram overlooked. Since its introduction, according to Instagram, 46 percent of users have at least saved one post.

Collection is just a simple way to manage saved photos. One or two photos won't be a pain to manage, but a ton of photos would be somehow difficult. Collection is a way to help users keep track of the posts they want to remember.

The collections can then be found on the saved posts tab on the users' profile. Just like all saved posts, collections are private. While this is to ensure privacy, Instagram is not giving users any option to share their collection, and this can be a drawback for some users. Collections could be a way for people o share great curated photos, similar to a playlist of images.

This update is available for users using iOS and Android as part of Instagram version 10.16.
