After a month Instagram announced the ability for users to invite others onto their Stories, the company is allowing users to request to join someone else's livestream.
What this means, when users are watching someone else's stream, they will see a 'Request’ button in the comments section. Tapping on that will send a request to the person. Once the friend confirmed the request to join in, they will see a confirmation.
Instagram then give the two a moment to prepare before they can livestream together.
"When a friend is live, you can let them know you'd like to join in the fun and hang out live together," said Instagram in a blog post announcing the feature.
Although multiple people can make requests, only one extra person can show up on a stream at a time.

Once live, the screen will split in half. Users can leave their friend's live video at any time they want.
When livestreaming, users can see requests from friends who want to join.
In the comments section, they will see a notification for each request. Instagram introduces new icon with two smiley faces that also have a red number showing how many requests they have.

They can tap on the 'View' button and then choose to add the friend, or cancel the request.
"When you’re done, you can share your live video to stories, or choose 'Discard' and your live video will disappear from the app as usual," said Instagram.
These updates are available as part of Instagram version 24 on iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play.
