It's sure to come, and the time is now.
After OpenAI released ChatGPT, it was originally on a web interface, available on its own website. Then, OpenAI has made it available on Apple Mac desktop computers, where users can "chat about email, screenshots, files, and anything on your screen."
This time, after a long wait, OpenAI finally introduces ChatGPT for users on Microsoft Windows desktop operating system.
Just like what users can do on the Mac app, ChatGPT users on Windows can also "chat about files and photos," as well as a lot more:
- Instant answers: Use the

keyboard shortcut for faster access to ChatGPT. - Stay productive: Keep ChatGPT easily accessible next to your open apps with the companion window.
- Upload files and photos: Summarize and analyze multiple documents.
- Get professional input: Brainstorm marketing copy or a business plan.
- Creative inspiration: Get birthday gift ideas or create a personalized greeting card with DALL•E.
Unlike the web and mobile versions, the desktop release of ChatGPT is designed to quickly fit into users'normal workflow on a computer.
With the ability to use shortcuts, for example, this allows user to quickly open a chat interface and fire off a question to the AI.
What's more, this app is also bringing users "the newest model improvements from OpenAI," which includes access to OpenAI o1-preview, which is at this time OpenAI's newest and smartest model.

In short, with the ChatGPT app on Windows, users of the operating system can do a lot more with ChatGPT than on the web app.
It's worth noting that the Windows app is "currently only available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users."
It's also worth noting that it's common for OpenAI to first roll out features to ChatGPT Plus users and then all users. And just like before, OpenAI said that it plans "to bring the full experience to all users later this year."
