The Opera browser is an underdog if compared to Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. But it never wants to sorrow 2019 by not doing anything new.
The browser is considered as one of the most capable apps in the web browser industry, and that it has some impressive features that score extra points in terms of usability and customization.
And with frequent updates, users of the browser can make sure that they are always up-to-date to the trend of desktop platforms.
Starting version 58, Opera browser comes with some notable improvements.
While the updates don't bring any groundbreaking changes whatsoever, but upgrading to Opera 58 will definitely bring the best out of Opera, and is especially recommended for frequent Opera users out there, as it brings one long-awaited feature.
The first major change in Opera 58 is that, the browser adds a warning that pops up whenever users try to close the browser with multiple tabs running.
This isn't anything new. As a matter of fact, other browsers are already benefiting from this feature. But for Opera users, the lack of this particular feature has been one of the biggest annoyances.
Starting version 58, the chances of users closing the browser with more than one tab running by accidentally clicking the close button, for example, won't anymore happen.
If for any reasons users want to disable this useful feature, they can turn it off by toggling the option called 'Warn on closing window with multiple tabs'.
Opera 58 also includes other more subtle improvements regarding how it process multiple tabs, by allowing users to open a new tab by just using a middle-click on an empty space in the tab bar.
That same middle click action can also be used to close a tab when clicking right on the tab that users want to close.
The second major improvement, is specifically aimed for Opera users in Russia.
Opera's Start Page already shows relevant content for countries from different categories such as Arts, Business, Entertainment, Food, Health, Lifestyle. etc..
Starting Opera 58 for Russian users, Opera replaced its previous news display mechanism, by displaying news articles taken from Yandex Zen, a news recommendation service which Opera says should help offer personalized news articles to its users in Russia.
"What this means for them is that they will get better news, chosen based on their preferences and browsing history. Yandex Zen uses machine-learning technology and automatically adjusts to your news preferences," explained Opera.
Those who don’t want to see Zen news, can disable the feature. A restart of the browser is required to apply the changes.
Besides other tweaks and fixes, the first new build by Opera in 2019 only has two noticeable changes.
But needless to say, Opera 58 also includes other refinements under the hood, so there’s a chance many of the bugs that were discovered in the older versions are no longer found after updating.
