SAP AG, the German-based multinational software corporation that makes enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations, launches a set of solutions for more streamlined cloud deployments.
The company's best-known software products are its enterprise resource planning application systems and management (SAP ERP), its enterprise data warehouse product - SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW), SAP Business Objects software, and most recently, Sybase mobile products and the in-memory computing appliance SAP HANA.
On May 23rd, 2014, SAP as one of the largest software companies in the world, launched a set of solutions, the "SAP Rapid Deployment", designed to enable organizations to more quickly adopt cloud computing. The solutions will help streamline the implementation experience with lesser time to reduce risk and costs, according to SAP.
With more businesses deploying and seeking to convert their applications to cloud environments, SAP Rapid Deployment solutions help businesses to innovate in a quicker timeframe. The solutions are designed to help organizations minimize business disruption while simplifying deployments as new solutions are implemented, the company said.
"Take the fast lane with rapid deployment. Get the business software you need to run better - quickly," said SAP in its website.
Rapid Deployment is built for small and large cloud integrations, or deployments of multiple solutions in the cloud or on premise. Rapid-deployment solutions allow customers to explore solutions in the cloud.
SAP Rapid Deployment includes best practices-based implementation content and risk-reducing assemble-to-order methodologies that help give businesses the ability to run solutions that best fit their needs whether they are deploying across the cloud, on premise or in hybrid landscapes, SAP said. The methodologies can be applied to either a single application or an entire platform, and is based on a framework of proven guidelines, content, tools and methods. The solutions enable businesses to launch multiple applications in the cloud or on-premise.
"Businesses that want to move to the cloud often face the difficult task of identifying what information and processes they need and how they can move without disrupting daily operations," said Bernd Welz, Executive Vice President, and Global Head of Solution and Knowledge Packaging at SAP.
"SAP Rapid Deployment solutions make cloud implementations a non-issue. Customers can make a business decision, explore the solution, experience a guided solution implementation and enjoy the merits of the cloud without concerns on how to best implement a new cloud solution, integrating cloud solutions from SAP with on-premise solutions or migrating to SAP Cloud powered by SAP HANA."
SAP's new solution is heating the cloud industry. With years of R&D and numerous investments, SAP is further improving itself against rivals like Oracle, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Salesforce.com, Google, IBM, Microsoft Azure, Rackspace, and a list of smaller SaaS and PaaS vendors.
To strengthen its move, SAP acquired SeeWhy, maker of a real-time targeted marketing software, and integrate some of its features to SAP's Hybris.
SAP also partners with Microsoft to improve big data, cloud computing and enterprise mobility by providing SAP applications on Microsoft Azure, Excel will be connected to SAP BusinessObjects, and SAP will be creating apps for Windows and Windows Phone 8.1.
To further highlight the company's move towards the cloud, SAP is restructuring by shifting about 2,500 roles from software programming to cloud computing. SAP will require fewer onsite staff as it moves its software programs to the cloud, according to SAP spokesman Daniel Reinhardt.
Reinhardt said the shift will be reflected across regions and across departments. He also said that all current employees are encouraged to apply for new cloud-focused positions as they become available.
