"See What's Happening" Campaign: To Make People Understand Twitter More

What's happening?

Twitter is learning, and that is to make itself still relevant to the modern fast-paced digital world. On its blog post, Twitter said that in the previous months, the company was set out to understand more deeply about the perception of the microblogging platform that is used by people around the globe.

As it dives into this research, "some interesting trends emerged."

The first thing Twitter realized is that, 90 percent of people in the world recognize Twitter as brand. This is something that the company cares and can boldly be proud of. There are many users, companies, news outlets and public figures who use Twitter, and it is clear that to those people, Twitter is important to their lives.

But how about the remaining 10 percent? The rest of those people have yet to know what Twitter is: they don't know Twitter as a brand, and they simply, or mostly, didn't know what Twitter is for.

Tthe company found that most people who knew Twitter but didn't use it though that it was a social network for connecting with friends and family, basically because they think that Twitter is just another Facebook competitor. To them, Facebook can do a whole lot more, a lot more powerful and the chance to have more connection.

So why use Twitter?

Here Twitter wants to describe itself as something different. Twitter isn't Facebook's competitor, although it's also moving inside the social media sphere. The company wants to explain that users don't need to tweet everyday as they think they should.

"We realized we had some explaining and clarifying to do!" said Twitter.

On July 25th, 2016, Twitter is taking steps to express, and explain, what it is for, what it's always have been. In the upcoming days after that announcement, Twitter is rolling out a new marketing campaign that includes videos and digital ads that center around seeing what's on Twitter.

The examples of what the company calls "see what's happening", can be seen below:

With this campaign, Twitter is also introducing a new look and feel in its marketing. This is in order to reflect its users: the people who actually made what Twitter is, making it what it is.

The campaign won't be enough to bring Twitter up from its stagnating status. But still this is a positive move that clearly shows Twitter in moving to the right direction.

Twitter is not just another child in a neighborhood occupied by a bully called Facebook. It's good enough that Twitter knows where it's going and how to not confront Facebook face-to-face because it won't stand a chance. It did what it is supposed to do, and that is to get more attention to itself, making people realize that it is actually a giant that is still in many people's heart.
