Snapchat Brings GIF Stickers, Courtesy Of GIPHY

Snapchat announces that it's bringing some added features to its app, including support for GIF stickers.

Social medias can from time to time, hit their limits in creating unique and original features. But since the demands always want changes, not to mention the competition that gets tighter and tighter, they have less to no choice besides copying each others' features.

And here for Snapchat that has been copied blatantly many times by Facebook and its products, it's no surprise that it is finally doing what others have done to it.

The GIF feature simply allows users to paste animated GIFs to their Snaps and Stories. By partnering with GIPHY, Snapchat provides users with access to an enormous GIF database right within the Snapchat app.

Instagram just introduced this exact same feature one month earlier this year.

To use this feature, after snapping a photo or video, users just need to select the Sticker icon in the top-right corner to bring up the GIF menu. Here, users can search for the GIF they want by scrolling through the suggestions from a list of stickers courtesy of GIPHY.

Here, the GIFs are like stationary stickers where users resize and move them around. Users can also press and hold a GID to pin it into moving objects in videos.

This is made possible with GIPHY World ARKit app introduced in 2017.

Another update is in Snapchat's design. The app made the Friends and Discover pages into a tabbed layout, which should make it easier for users to keep up with Stories.

The update also enables sorting through friends with active Stories, Group Chats, and Subscriptions.

Snapchat's design was having a rough start with many people disliking it. This is at least Snapchat's attempt to simplify the notorious user-unfriendly app, as CEO Evan Spiegel promised.
