Telegram Introduces Colorful Calls, A Thanos Snap Effect, And An Update To Its Bots

The holiday season marks the end of the year, where people recall the pasts and express their expectations for the future.

2023 had a lot to say, and as there are billions of people in this world, there are billions of reasons why they like it or hate it. Telegram is the privacy-focused messaging app, and this time, it welcomed 2024 with a festive, and a bunch of goodies.

In a blog post, Telegram said that in its 10th update of 2023, it added "improved calls with a colorful new design that use less of your phone's battery, a new vaporize effect when you delete messages, the largest bot update in Telegram's history – and more."

This should make the platform a more formidable opponent to WhatsApp.

First up, is the 'Upgraded Calls' feature.

Telegram said that it has "totally redesigned calls, adding new animations and beautiful backgrounds that change dynamically based on the call's status: ringing, active or ended."

Telegram noted that despite adding more animations and backgrounds, the overall interface requires fewer resources than before.

This should be useful, as it can save battery life and should make Telegram work better on older, less powerful devices.

"We've also fixed hundreds of bugs and interface glitches – and added some improvements to call quality. More improvements to connection and audio quality are coming in 2024," added Telegram.

Next, is the so-called 'Thanos Snap Effect when Deleting Messages'

More gimmicky that a function, the feature is simply an animation that plays whenever users delete any message.

This "energy-efficient," vaporize effect animation is introduced to both iOS and Android.

After that, Telegram also introduced what it calls an 'Epic Bot Update: Reactions and Much More'.

For quite some times, Telegram's free bot platform lets developers integrate any kind of service into the Telegram ecosystem. This allows developers to create things like chat bots to powerful mini apps that can replace any website.

"We're closing this year with the largest update to the Bot Platform in Telegram's history," said Telegram.

"Among dozens of new features, bots can now react to messages and manage reactions, quotes, and links, send replies to other chats or topics, and much more."

"With the new update, bots can also get information about giveaways and boosts in channels where they are admins," added Telegram.

These set of features should further encourage developers and other users to increase the usage of bots.

Before this, Telegram added a load of new features in 2023 to its app, such as the Giveaways feature, Stories, a revamped media editor and a lot more.
