WhatsApp Introduces A ‘Message Yourself’ Feature, So Users Can Message Themselves

WhatsApp Message Yourself

WhatsApp, the popular messaging apps is so ubiquitous that sometimes, people use their smartphone just for the app.

And because of that, those people may depend on the app to do pretty much everything, including note taking. And this can be a pain, since WhatsApp is a messaging app, not a note-taking app. But this is changing, with a feature called 'Message Yourself.'

Just like what the name suggests, Message Yourself is a feature for self-chat.

WhatsApp users on both iOS and Android could use this feature to share messages, images, videos, GIFs, and audio with themselves within the app.

This feature should come in handy, especially for users who wish to keep notes, keep links they want to get back to later, keeping tracks of appointments, and so forth.

This feature essentially makes users a chat contact themselves.

On the contact list, under the 'Contacts on WhatsApp' section, users' contact can be seen, with the 'You' appended at the end to make things clear.

Tapping on that will open up a chat window, just like normal.

The only difference here is that, the sender and the recipient are both the user themselves.

Users can even pin their Message Yourself chats to the top of a conversation list for easier access.

The feature has been in testing for weeks, with beta testers getting access since October.

This time, WhatsApp confirmed that it’s being rolled out to all users.

This feature is small, but regardless, can be extremely helpful.

In the digital world where things are going at a fast pace, some people simply don't have the time (or knowledge) to access dedicated note-taking apps, bookmarking services, or something else similar.

Previously, users of WhatsApp who wish to save things for themselves, would send their close friend or spouse the things they wish to keep.

Users could also message themselves by creating a group with just them as a member or by using the app's 'click to chat" feature'.

This time, these are no longer necessary.
