WhatsApp has launched updates aimed at solving some of the most common frustrations users face, particularly around account management, storage, and switching devices.
One of the most notable changes is the expansion of multi-account support to iOS. iPhone users can now log into two separate WhatsApp accounts on the same device, a feature Android users have had for some time. The active account is clearly indicated by its profile picture in the bottom navigation bar, making it easy to switch between personal and work conversations without needing a second phone.
This update aligns iOS with Android, offering a more consistent cross-platform experience.
Speaking of cross-platform improvements, WhatsApp has also made transferring chats between devices much easier. Users can now move their full conversation history, including photos and videos, between iOS and Android in both directions. Previously, this process was more limited, but it is now handled locally in just a few steps, making device switching far more seamless.
Storage management is another area receiving meaningful improvements.
WhatsApp now allows users to manage storage on a per-chat basis, making it easier to free up space without deleting entire conversations. Within chat settings, the 'Manage Storage' option highlights large files such as videos and high-resolution images, allowing users to remove them selectively while keeping the rest of the chat intact.

Alongside these practical updates, WhatsApp in the announcement, also said that it is expanding its AI-powered features.
The Writing Help tool, launched in the late 2025, can now suggest replies based on the context of a conversation, helping users draft messages more quickly. Accessible directly from the typing field, it builds on existing tools for rephrasing and adjusting tone. WhatsApp notes that these suggestions are generated with privacy in mind, ensuring that message content is not shared externally.
In addition, Meta AI introduces basic photo editing capabilities within chats. Users can make quick adjustments, such as removing backgrounds, changing styles, or deleting unwanted elements, before sending images.
As with other AI features, availability may vary depending on region and device, as the rollout is being done gradually.
Other smaller additions include emoji suggestions that can be instantly turned into stickers, further enhancing everyday conversations.

Overall, these updates focus on refining the user experience rather than introducing entirely new messaging features.
In Meta's words, in its own annoucement, the updates should make "WhatsApp even simpler to use."
By improving account flexibility, simplifying data transfers, and adding smarter tools, WhatsApp continues to evolve in ways that make day-to-day communication more convenient while maintaining its core commitment to end-to-end encryption and user privacy.
