Android is a mobile operating system developed by the Open Handset Alliance, led and commercially sponsored by Google.

Based on a modified version of the Linux kernel and other open source software, the operating system is designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The first commercial Android device launched in September 2008.

On September 8, 2020, Android 11 was released.

The eleventh major release and 18th version of Android, was first launched out of the box with Vivo X51 5G.

The first phone that received the Android 11, was the Pixel phones, and OnePlus 8T.

Android 11.

What makes Android 11 unique if compared to its predecessors, is its "conversations" notifications.

Android 11 introduces a way where supported chat and messaging apps can have their notifications presented in pop-up overlays known as "bubbles". Conversations can also be marked as "priority" to give them greater prominence.

Android 11 also allows notifications history that happened over the past 24 hours to be displayed.

The conversations bubbles is designed to replace older Android's overlay permission, which is being deprecated due to security and performance concerns.

Other features include a built-in screen recorder, voice control system that is capable of recognizing screen context, 5G detecting support and hinged display support, API level 30, wireless debugging and more.

In the privacy and security side, Android 11 introduces "one-time" permissions for camera, microphone, and location. When these three sensors are requested by an app, users must choose whether to grant access whenever they are using the app, only once, or deny. And also, Android 11 only allows apps to access files in external storage that they had created themselves.
