Apple Lisa

In return for the right to buy $1,000,000 of pre-IPO stock, Apple made a historic visit to Xerox PARC in 1979, because after that 3 days access, Apple came up with the idea to build its first GUI computer, the Apple Lisa.

Lisa, which started as a project in 1978 to create a more modern Apple II, was sold at a cost of $9,995. Because of its high price, Lisa failed to penetrate the business market with only 100,000 units sold.

After Steve Jobs was forced out of the Lisa project, he joined the Macintosh project. Because of its similarities, Lisa's final revision, the Lisa 2/10, was modified and sold as the Macintosh XL.
