Qualcomm is known as the chipmaker, powering many smartphones and computing devices all over the world.
What's lesser known is that, it has more than 1.6 million ‘Snapdragon Insiders’, a community of fans and enthusiasts who participate in online forums. These people are among the first to hear about news coming from Qualcomm.
And this time, Qualcomm has partnered with Asus to create its first ever smartphone.
Qualcomm calls it the “Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders.”
According to Qualcomm on its announcement:
It is powered by Snapdragon 888, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. It comes equipped with a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED screen that is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and supports Always-on display, Android 11, and a rear fingerprint scanner that uses Qualcomm's 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 technology.
At the front, the phone has a 24MP camera in the top bezel of the phone, and at the rear, sports a main 64MP f/1.8 camera, an ultrawide 12MP f/2.2 unit and a telephoto 8MP sensor with 3X zoom.
The whole package that comes with a $1,500 price tag.
And that also includes the handset, along with a pair of TWS earbuds with Snapdragon Sound produced by Master & Dynamic, a bumper case, a Qualcomm Quick Charge 5.0 power adapter, and two charging cables.
The smartphone is designed to showcase the chip company's software features that integrate with its hardware.
The phone is meant to be manufactured, marketed, and sold by Asus, for markets that include China, U.S., Germany, UK, Japan, South Korea, and India.
