Among the many things Apple is known for, is having a physical store called the Apple Store, where customers can visit to see what the company has to offer, or receive support for their inquiry.
The first Apple Store was opened back in 2001.
20 years later, in 2021, Apple has more than 500 retails stores around the world.
And this time, it's Google turn to have its own retail store.
The tech giant has opened its first-ever physical store, which is located in in New York City, occupying a historic building in Manhattan’s Chelsea district. The store sells Google's consumer devices, ranging from Pixel smartphones, to Nest, Fitbit, Pixelbook and more.
Retaining Google's colors, the brick-and-mortal store is filling the store with enough products to justify its existence.
For example, the store offers unique in-store experience, plush chairs, wall-mounted TVs, toys and games, and more.
Because Google also sells some Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the store has part of it decorated to look like a living room, where Google gives visitors the idea of how its Nest products and Google Assistant can make life easier through automation.
For example, visitors can use Google Assistant to do things like check who’s at the door, change the temperature of the room, turn the lights on, etc.
In other words, Google Store is Apple Store with added quirks.
Because the 5,000-square-feet store is opened during the 'COVID-19' coronavirus pandemic, visitors and employees are urged to maintain their distance, use face masks, and use hand sanitizers.
The retail location was previously occupied by a Post Office and Starbucks, which vacated when their leases expired.
The giant’s brick-and-mortar presence not only joins Apple, but also the likes of Microsoft, Samsung and Amazon.
