South Korean video and single"Gangnam Style" by Psy that was released in July 2012, was the first video on YouTube that hit a billion views.
The video, and the single, that had a massive cultural impact is also the first to hit the 2 billion mark.
Although it has fallen off the lists and sales have slowed, the song is still earning Psy and his record label YG Entertainment money, mostly from that most viral of video (under $2 million from YouTube ads). The song that propelled Psy into the stratosphere of pop music, easily made him the most famous K-pop singer in the world and helping raise the profile of his genre.
