Tech giant Microsoft announces that it's acquiring LinkedIn for $26.2 billion in an all-cash deal.
The deal to buy the popular social media for business and professionals alike, is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.
LinkedIn is facing public criticisms when it failed to estimate its quarterly earnings in February 2016. With bad performance, the social media has gone from one of the most valuable internet companies to a potential takeover by larger corporation. At that time, its shares fell 43 percent and its market valuation fell by more than $14 billion.
Microsoft acquires LinkedIn to benefit both sides. But for Microsoft, it's all about data. The company is already having massive influence in software making, and the acquisition should enables it to target more corporate users as well as their employees.
