Viber is a proprietary cross-platform instant messaging Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) application for smartphones developed by Viber Media. In addition to text messaging, users can exchange images, video and audio media messages.
Founded and co-owned by four Israeli partners: Talmon Marco, Igor Megzinik, Sani Maroli and Ofer Smocha, the company was acquired by Rakuten, a Japanese electronic commerce and internet company based in Tokyo, for $900 million.
