The AI field was dull and boring. But things have changed, and that the changes happen very quickly.
Since OpenAI released ChatGPT, many companies have attempted to create their own AI models to rival OpenAI's GPT-3.5 and GPT-4.
Out of the handful, only a few managed to stand out.
And Anthropic is one of them.
The AI startup released its own AI model, Claude, back in March, and since then, it has proven itself a worthy rival to the OpenAI product.
With that initial launch, Anthropic also released Claude Instant, a lighter, less expensive, and faster version of Claude, according to Anthropic.
This time, that particular Claude is getting an upgrade.
Introducing our latest version of Claude Instant, version 1.2, available now through our API!

Anthropic has introduced Claude Instant 1.2, which according to its blog post, is pretty similar to Claude 2.
While Claude 2 has more features and capabilities that Claude Instant 1.2, like for example, having the ability to parse documents such as PDFs and give feedback or suggestions based on the content, and that it can also generate longer responses and better at coding, Claude Instant 1.2 uses many instances of Claude 2.
This makes Claude Instant 1.2 significantly better than the previous Claude Instant model.
And also because it uses Claude 2, the advanced abilities the AI provides, allow Claude Instant 1.2 to have a significantly improved math, coding, and also reasoning.
It also generates longer, more structured responses, according to the release.
To put the model to the test, Anthropic compared Claude Instant 1.1 and 1.2's performance in standard benchmark evaluations, including the Codex evaluation and Grade-school math problems benchmark (GSM8k).
Through he benchmark for maths and coding abilities, Claude Instant 1.2 outperformed Cloud Instant 1.1 with a score of 58.7% versus the original's 52.8% in the Codex evaluation and 86.7% versus the original's 80.9% in GSM8k.
For the rest of the benchmark exams however, the newer model performed either slightly below or above the older model, with minimal differences.

Anthropic, a company that develops large language models (LLMs) for various applications, has announced the launch of a new version of its entry-level LLM, made Claude Instant 1.2 a worthy successor.
With improved abilities, Claude Instant 1.2 is a very capable model that can perform a range of tasks such as casual dialogue, text analysis, summarization, and document comprehension. It can also handle inputs of up to 100,000 tokens, which means it can process hundreds of pages of content at once.
It can output texts of up to a few thousand tokens in one go, such as memos, letters, stories, and other content.
But one of the most unique features of Claude Instant 1.2, it that it scores the best out of all Claude models in an automated red-teaming evaluation.
What this means, the AI offers greater safety, hallucinates less, and is more resistant to jailbreaks.
Jailbreaks are attempts to trick the model into revealing sensitive information or producing harmful outputs.
Anthropic offers Claude Instant 1.2 through its API, and that it's also much less expensive than Claude 2.
Anthropic said that it has an "exciting roadmap" for capability improvements planned for Claude Instant 1.2 and plans to develop them slowly and iteratively over the coming months.
