Google Introduces Quick Filters And Event Search Feature On Its App And Mobile Website

Google

Changes are always necessary, especially when the trends demanded them. As the search giant of the web, Google is no exception to this.

In May 9th 2017, after introducing a list of shortcut icons to its mobile app and website, Google also added quick filter options for latest images, GIFs, clip art, colors and copyright usage.

These filters have the goal to ensure users find the exact image they want even easier. The filters can be found directly below the search box for easy access.

Below is a how a Google image search using red color filter looks like on mobile devices:

The next is the ability for searching events easier on Google's app and its mobile website..

Google announced the feature on May 10th. What it does, is surfacing a listing of activities taken from Eventbrite, Meetup and other sites across the web. Event results include filters that allow users to narrow down the results by dates, or to look for events happening "today," "tomorrow" or "next week."

According to Google product manager Nishant Ranka:

"To try it, type in a quick search like, 'jazz concerts in Austin,' or 'art events this weekend' on your phone. With a single tap, you'll see at-a-glance details about various options, like the event title, date and time, and location. You can tap 'more events' to see additional options. Once you find one that's up your alley, tap it to find more details or buy tickets directly from the website."

The feature is rolling out, initially in the U.S..

And for developers that want to tap into the feature, Google has provided guidelines for them so they can create event listings that will show up within Google's Search Event guide.
