When one isn't enough and neither is two or three, looks like Google didn't already offer enough messaging and communication app. The tech giant has just quietly launched Meet, an enterprise-friendly version of Hangouts.
The app is called Meet by Google Hangouts, and it allows G Suite users to set up and join in HD video meetings. Meet is initially available on web app and iOS version.
Meet is more like a business-friendly alternative to Hangouts, Google's consumer-focused messaging service, voice and video chat application. It integrates with Gmail and Google Calendar.
And just like Hangouts, Meet also offers group video calls but in an expanded capacity to up to 30 participants.
On the desktop version, the site resembles the landing page for Hangouts, but without the options to place a phone call or start a text chat. Instead, it allows users to enter a meeting code to join a meeting, as well as see those meetings they have scheduled.

On the iOS app, users can use features like the dial-in numbers for people who can't access the video stream.

Meet is launched at the time when Google has been refocusing its efforts from Hangouts. The company has shut down its Google+ Hangouts API, noting in a message to developers that Hangouts was "turning to focus on enterprise use cases."
That month, Google acquired Limes Audio, a startup that aims to improve Google Hangouts voice quality.
The timing of Meet's release is also after Amazon unveiled its Chime app for video conferencing. Chime is similar to Meet as it's also meant for group video conference aimed for businesses.
At the time of its release, speculations have expressed that Meet is Google's way to compete with Microsoft Skype and GoToMeeting.
