Google Search Console Adds Links Reports From Old Interface, And Mobile Usability

Google Search Console allows webmasters to check indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites.

And Google is improving the beta version of Search Console by adding more features. "This time we've focused on importing existing popular features from the old Search Console to the new product," said Search Console engineers Ariel Kroszynski and Roman Kecher in a blog post.

The report is meant to consolidate the functionality of the 'Links to your site' and 'Internal Links' reports on the old Search Console.

This is how it looks like:

Google Search Console also adds Mobile Usability report.

Knowing that it's already a priority for all site owners, Google wants to help webmasters in fixing mobile usability issues.

Here, issue names are the same as the old report, but there is an additional feature which allows users to submit a validation and re-indexing request when an issue is fixed.

Google has also added a link to the help document for this new report, saying that the new report is "more accurate than the old Links to your site report."

"As a result, the values in the new report may be lower, but this does not indicate a drop in links, but rather a more accurate and secure way of reporting them."

Below is a list of the types of data that users can get from the links report:

  • Top linking domains.
  • Top linked pages.
  • Top linked pages from a specific site.
  • Top linking text.
  • Inbound links from a specific site.
  • Top sites linking.
  • Top linked pages.
  • Internal links.

Google is expected to continue porting features from the old Google Search Console interface to the new one over time.
