On your Instagram feed, there are things that you may not like. Previously, there is no way to clean those unwanted things without having the people you've followed know.
While you can always unfollow someone, that often isn’t a realistic option. You can't just unfollow your close relatives because they post too often, for example, as it may affect relationship in real-life.
But the a long-awaited solution has arrived as Instagram introduces a 'Mute' feature which does what it says.
With the feature, users can choose to mute the offending profile to prevent the person's post to appear in your feed. You can still view the muted person's profile, and you can also unmute them anytime you want.
But the best of all, you can do all that without letting the person know, preserving any real-life relationships.

This feature is certainly long overdue.
To use the feature, just tap on the menu button located at the top right of a content, posted by a person.
Using this feature will block all post from the person you've muted. The feature also works with Stories. While you can also mute other people from there, Instagram will still notify you if you're tagged in a post or comment by that user.
Instagram is just like any other popular social media networks that are often too crowded and too noisy.
Following or befriending someone usually means to know more about the said person, and to get updates from them. However, not everyone has the same social media habit.
In most cases, you probably dislike someone because they post too much of themselves, somehow spamming your feed with nothing else but them. As you're following more people, you feed gets even more clogged up, preventing you from getting the real value of social media networks.
This mute feature is like a savior to actual real-life relationship. It's more likely to be applied on those folks that you just can’t erase from your life.
So it’s about time that Instagram added one.
