Instagram's Stories are meant to bring stories of life together in one place, "from hats to Valentine's Day fun to customizable location stickers. On March 7th, 2017, Instagram is adding a dozen more new stickers for New York City and Jakarta.
With them, Instagram users are having more creative option for adding context to their everyday moments.
To use the geostickers, users need to take a photo or video and tap the sticker icon. They will see geostickers at the top.
With the geostickers, "no matter where you are in New York City or Jakarta, you’ll see a custom sticker for that city. You may see other stickers appear when you’re visiting select neighborhoods and landmarks — each one is designed to match the vibe of the location it represents," said Instagram its blog post.
Users can add as many stickers as they want. What they need to do is to only adjust the size and placement, to then mix and match with other creative tools.
The geostickers are like customizable location stickers. Other people that are watching the story can tap on a geosticker to see the location of the page. However, story that are shared won’t show up on the location page itself.
Instagram's geostickers are similar to those found on Snapchat. With them, users can add a sticker of the locale it was taken to a new image on Instagram Story. The only difference between Instagram's and Snapchat's is the design.
Since Instagram introduced Stories, it has started to copy some if not all of Snapchat's best features. Copying has made it see an increase of new users.
Initially, Instagram's Stories only have stickers for New York and Jakarta. Instagram is making them available starting app version 10.11 for iOS and Android.
