Mozilla's Firefox 58 Comes With Tweaks, Bug Fixes And Even More Speed

Mozilla has released Firefox Quantum which focuses on speed.

But it has a handful of critical flaws. So here, Firefox 58 is then released to fix them.

The version which is built on the same foundation, fixes some of version 57's flaws, while at the same time, improved the way the browser renders graphics by launching an improved engine using a dedicated CPU thread, while caches JavaScripts to help pages load faster. The priority for this version, is speed.

There is also an improvement on the WebAssembly, as well as compiler improvements in Firefox 58.

Mozilla is also promotes a refreshed Tracking Protection. According to Mozilla, tests have shown that enabling the feature actually speeds up page loads.

A decade ago, Firefox was competing against Microsoft's Internet Explorer. But since then, the browser market has become much more competitive.

With the arrival of Google's Chrome and mobile phones, Firefox's future depends heavily on increased adoption on mobile platforms. For this reason, Firefox also puts a great deal of work to develop its Android mobile browser.

Given by the rise and popularity of Google, Firefox 58 also started supporting Progressive Web Apps (PWA). Here, the browser displays a house-shaped button in the address bar when users visit a site that is PWA. It also added bookmarking feature to make it easier for users to view, organize, and create new folders, as well as moving bookmarks into different folders.

And following on from Mozilla's Firefox fixes for two variants of the widespread Meltdown and Spectre flaws, Firefox 58 also fixed a further 32 vulnerabilities, consisting of four critical, 13 high, 13 moderate, and three low severity bugs.

Also on the security side, Mozilla developers found a group of memory safety bugs in Firefox 57 which appeared to be a memory corruption issue that could, with some effort, be exploited by hackers to run arbitrary code.
