Snapchat Introducing 'Explore' As A Tour Guide To What Happens On Snap Map

Troubles shouldn't stop a company from evolving and improvising. Here, Snapchat that has met criticisms, has announced a feature that would keep it unique.

The social media app introduces 'Explore' feature to its Snap Map. The update brings notifications about what friends (and Snapchat itself) are up to. This is like Snapchat in improvising itself to become a broader social network, rather than just a person-to-person photo-sharing app.

"Explore updates automatically appear when friends take a road trip, fly someplace new, and more — like visit a landmark or attend a big festival. With one tap, you can start a new conversation. You’ll also get updates for other moments you might want to see like breaking news, events, and trends."

The feature allows users to see what friends have been doing, as well as showing breaking stories across the map. Users can keep up with others and the community in a way separate from the Stories feature, which has been blatantly copied and surpassed by Instagram.

Snap Map has been around since mid-2017. But Snapchat claims that millions of users have been using it on a daily basis, thus making it a major part of Snapchat's social economy.

For example, besides allowing users to know what friends are up to, they can also see things like natural disasters and others.

By expanding the capability of the feature, Snapchat gears itself to become more social and capable. This comes when the company has struggled as almost everyone in the competition seemed to have stolen its ideas.

Everything it has, even its core features, have been copied and been improved by others. But Snap Map has since remained unique to Snapchat, at least before someone wants to copy it.
