The 'COVID-19' coronavirus pandemic is yet to see its end, and people are using messaging apps more than ever before.
Telegram is one of the large players. Founded by Pavel Durov, it has since become the messaging app for those who want to experience end-to-end encryption calls and massive group chats.
It was back in 2015 that Telegram released a photo editor tool to allow users enhance images, draw add stickers and text to pictures.
This time, it has updated the tool to support animated stickers and editing videos.
Just like the previous and fairly comprehensive image editor, the updated editor allows users to adjust a range of options before sending the message. Users can also let the app adjust the quality automatically.
"You can now enhance video quality automatically in two taps – or manually tweak a dozen parameters, like brightness or saturation, until your inner Kubrick is satisfied," said Telegram on its blog post.
Then there is the animated stickers on media.
Users can add animated stickers to any photo or video. Editing a photo would turn it into a GIF.
The GIF panel has also been updated with a new Trending section and emoji-based tabs that cover the most popular emotions.
"We've also improved loading times for GIFs in the panel, so you can find that perfect GIF faster. Hold on any GIF you haven't sent before to save it to your Recent tab for later use," explained Telegram.
The update also includes a new emoticon based GIF search, which lets users quickly search GIFs categorized by popular emoticons.
Then there is an update where users can add or remove any chat from a folder by pressing and holding on the chat.
For Android users, they are getting some extra features, which make the app even better.
For example, messages are getting the sent, edited, and deleted, with animations. Telegram has also improved the video player so that controls and long captions can get out of your way quickly. With the update, videos shorter than 30 seconds get looped automatically and voice messages play with even more animations.
Also for Android users, Telegram has improved the cache management with a new user-interface.
"Not only can you keep Telegram's storage footprint on your device incredibly small – you can do it in style. See Settings > Data and Storage > Storage Usage."
The two-factor authentication screen has also been updated.
