Elon Musk certainly knows how to stir the internet.
After becoming the most-followed person on Twitter and later acquiring the platform outright, the billionaire went on to rename it X, effectively turning one of the most recognizable brands on the web into something that sounds more like an adult site than a global social network. It was a move equal parts bold, baffling, and unmistakably Musk.
And now, he's at it again.
The X platform is rolling out a new feature called "Bangers."
As the name suggests, it somehow manages to sound both energetic and mildly inappropriate.
Depending on who is asked, it either signals Musk’s relentless push for viral engagement or feels like something straight out of a late-night pay-per-view lineup.
In true Musk fashion, it’s another reminder that subtlety has never been part of his brand.
We’re testing something new: Certified Bangers.
We want to recognize the very best posts that move the timeline, ranked by authentic interactions. If your post is featured, you will get a Certified Banger badge on your profile for the month.
Here are the top 5 Bangers for…— Bangers (@Bangers) November 10, 2025
According to X, the Bangers feature (@Bangers) is meant to highlight the kind of content that makes people laugh, think, or talk. Posts that can be showcased in Bangers include original, engaging, and authentic posts that help shape online culture.
Under the new Bangers feature, posts will be ranked based on the total number of authentic interactions, including verified impressions, likes, bookmarks, reposts, and replies.
There are no follower or engagement minimums.
Requirements include:
- Personal accounts (business, political, or government-affiliated accounts don’t count).
- Accounts in good standing, with no repeated or severe violations of our Terms or Rules and policies.
- Accounts that aren’t trying to game its system or algorithm.
And for the post to be a Banger, it must:
- Be original. If it's a repost, it doesn't count.
- Not contain sexually explicit content, ads or sponsored content, misleading or harassing materials, graphic or disturbing messages, or violence.
In other words, anyone on X can be a Banger.
Anyone can be selected, but you should keep some things in mind.

X has been promoting Bangers since at least 2024.
Now, it's doubling down on something bigger. With it, X wants to recalibrate how content gets seen and celebrated, and this can mean a lot to smaller accounts.
The feature isn’t simply about likes or shares; it’s about lifting up posts that genuinely move the needle, like the ones that spark laughter, provoke thought and trigger conversations. By using engagement signals like impressions, bookmarks, replies and reposts, X is signaling a move toward rewarding authentic impact over raw follower numbers.
But this shift also attests to a larger ambition. Under Elon Musk’s stewardship, X is evolving from a micro-blogging site into a platform where creators, virality, and algorithmic discovery play leading roles.
The Bangers feature slots into a broader strategy.
