As the most popular cryptocurrency, Bitcoin has experienced its own ups and downs.
But not matter how high or how low the price of the digital cryptocurrency, many people are holding to the digital asset longer than most others do.
In a report by research firm Delphi Digital, Bitcoin price that fell below $7,500 for the first time since May, didn't make many Bitcoin owners to budge, with Delphi Digital saying that:
"The portion of supply that hasn’t moved in at least one year started the year at 55.6%, peaked at the end of April at 60.8%, and currently sits at 58.3%.”

As a matter of fact, the amount of Bitcoins that haven’t moved for at least two years represents 38.7% of the overall circulating supply, which is up from 34.6% at the start of 2019.
The most notable is the data showing that 21.6% of available Bitcoin hasn’t moved for at least five years. This is an all-time high, and a year-to-date increase of 1.1%.
To calculate this number, Delphi Digital uses “Unspent Transaction Output” (UXTO) data to sort Bitcoins by the last time they were moved. Each UTXO represents a chain of ownership implemented as a chain of Digital Signatures where the owner signs a message (transaction) transferring ownership of their UTXO to the receiver's Public Key.
Here, UTXO defines an output of a blockchain transaction that has not been spent or. used as an input in a new transaction.
Another way of saying it, the amount of time an amount of Bitcoin stays and not moved, is referred to as its “UXTO age.”
As the most popular and widely-used cryptocurrency, Bitcoin uses this UTXO model.
"Long-term holders will dictate cyclical tops and bottoms, but it’s the short-term traders that will have a larger impact on intra-cycle prices as they gauge, among other things, the flow of new money entering the space,” added the firm."
However, it should also be noted that the 5-year+ UTXO is increasingly made up of lost coins, which means that the owners may have been deceased, or have forgotten about their password.
In another news, Bitcoin market cap is estimated to be at around $166,930,000,000, which makes it command 68 percent of the total cryptocurrency market.
With that number, the market cap of Bitcoin is similar to that of China Mobile, the Chinese state-owned company that provides mobile voice and multimedia services through its nationwide mobile telecommunications network across mainland China and Hong Kong.
Listed on both the NYSE and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, China Mobile is the largest mobile telecommunications corporation by market capitalization.
With over 902 million subscribers as of June 2018, the company is also the world's largest mobile network operator by total number of subscribers.
