Google Panda

18/02/2011

Google Panda announced a new algorithm called Panda. The algorithm is aiming to lower the rank of low-quality sites and those that have small and not useful contents (thin sites). The algorithm also out higher-quality sites near the top of its search result page.

The Panda affected more than 10 percent of Google's search results. And not long after its initial release, many websites, including Google's webmaster forum, was filled with complaints of scrapers/copyright infringers getting better rankings than sites with original content.

Google's Panda has received several updates before the effect went global in April 2011. The Panda algorithm is updated more continuously.
