When something goes viral, the internet will see and remember. But in many cases, things go viral for the wrong thing, or without the consent of the subject inside the videos.
Bu Guru Salsa, or Teacher Salsa, taught math classes at an elementary school Ambulu, Jember, East Java, Indonesia. However, her life took an unexpected turn when a private video of hers surfaced online, thrusting her into the national spotlight, forcing her to end her passion for teaching.
The woman went viral on the internet as "Guru Salsa," after she gained widespread attention following the circulation of a controversial video depicting her dancing without clothing.
That however, is only the beginning.
The video in question, shows a young woman in hijab dancing without anything on.
Exposing both her massive assets and playfully playing with them, the former teacher can be seen dancing in a TikTok-like manner, bending over, flaunting her voluptuous figure to the camera.
Her identity became known due to the video's clear depiction of her face, which matched images from her public TikTok account, @sissalsaa.
When she became viral for her leaked video, Guru Salsabila who majors in sociology and graduated in 2021 from University of Jember, clarified by saying that she had been deceived by an individual she met online, who posed as a wealthy entrepreneur.
The two actually dated, and often engaged in video calls due to their long-distance relationship, with Salsa in East Java and her ex-partner purportedly in Kalimantan.
And according to Salsa, the explicit video originated from personal recordings and video calls that she sent to her former partner.
"However, on one occasion, he requested that I participate in a video call and perform explicit acts; the video call lasted less than 3 minutes, during which the perpetrator recorded it," recounted Salsa, whose real name is Salsabila Rahma.
"During the video call, he did not show his face; only I was on camera," she added. The woman from Jember, East Java, complied with her ex-partner's requests without suspicion.
"I innocently followed his instructions because he claimed he couldn't be on camera," Salsa explained. "He cited poor signal or fear of risks at his workplace," she continued.
In other words, this person requested a video call involving explicit content, which she complied with, but unaware that he was recording the session.
The individual later disseminated the recording without her consent, leading to its viral spread on social media platforms.
But after further investigation, it's realized that the video showing Salsabila dancing without any clothes on isn't the only video she uploaded to the internet.
There are more than a dozen more videos showing Salsabila either half naked or fully naked, performing various dances or sex acts, including touching herself, bathing, and grinding a pillow.
Prior to the virality, Salsabila seemed to come prepared for the worse, and voluntarily resigned from her teaching position on February 7, 2025, and was no longer affiliated with any educational institution.
In a later video, she expressed deep remorse over the incident, acknowledging her naivety and urging the public to refrain from harassing her family and friends.
The local police in Jember are actively investigating the case, focusing on identifying and apprehending the individual responsible for leaking the video.
If convicted, the perpetrator could face charges under Article 27 paragraph (1) of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE) and Article 4 paragraph (1) of the Pornography Law.
