On February 11, the soundtrack "Stay Alive" for the webtoon '7Fates: CHAKHO' was released.
The song, sang by by BTS's youngest member Jungkook and produced by his fellow band member Suga, dominated various charts worldwide shortly after its release.
First, the track became the first song by a K-Pop group in 2022 to debut straight to number one on the worldwide iTunes chart and on the European iTunes chart simultaneously.
Second, the song also reached number one on iTunes top song chart in 93 countries, a day after its release.
Third, the song is considered the first and only solo song to reach the number one spot in more than 90 countries in its first day. And fourth, it's the first K-Pop act to top the U.S. iTunes song chart in 2022.
Stay Alive also sets a new record as well for the fastest song by an Asian soloist to reach the number one place on iTunes charts in eight of the world’s largest music markets.
On Spotify, during its first tracking day, the song earned approximately 4.27 million streams on Spotify, scoring Jungkook the biggest debut for any Korean solo artist on the digital space.
The sum also landed Jungkook straight at number three on Spotify’s Global Chart, which is considered the highest debut ranking by a K-soloist.
7Fates: CHAKHO was released on January 15, is an original story produced by HYBE.
It features all the BTS members including RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook. The characters have to fight the battle between humans and tigers. RM plays Do-Geon, Jin plays Hwan, Suga is Cein, and J-Hope plays Hosu in the webtoon. Jimin essays the role of Haru, V plays Jooan and Jungkook plays Zeha.
Stay Alive first premiered on the 7Fates: CHAKHO on February 5, 2022, and was released in streaming platforms simultaneously on February 11, 2022.
This is the first time a webtoon used an soundtrack as background music in global releases in 10 languages.
BTS is already known for breaking numerous records.
And what made Stay Alive another phenomenon, can be linked to BTS's fans, called the ARMY. They have been by each others' side since the beginning, supporting their idols and every part of their journey and tracks.
