Steve Jobs' business cards, sold for $10,000

The Marin School is a small independent high school in San Rafael, California. In its attempt to raise funds, the school had an auction. One (three) of the items were Steve Jobs' business cards.

The three of Jobs’ old business cards, represented a different phase of his career - spanning from years 1984 to 1990.

The cards name Jobs as president of NeXT and chairman of the board at Apple and Pixar, the three companies Jobs was deeply involved.

The cards made their way to the school's possession through a family who did a catering for Jobs and held on his contact information.

Bidding started at $600. Drawing 47 online and live bids from across the world, the price quickly advanced to four- and later five-figure sums.

The cards was sold to entrepreneur Tim Knowles, CEO of Stacks.co., an Australia-based startup that allows people to share their business cards digitally through an iPhone app. When he saw a news story about the auction for the cards, he said, "It's something I knew we had to get."

"If there was ever a business card to have in your Rolodex - it would certainly be Steve's," said Knowles. "[W]e wouldn't be doing what we are doing right now if it wasn’t for him!"

He bought the cards at the Live Event Bidder for $10,050.

The business cards became the highest-selling item, raising twice as much as the next-highest offering: a one-week stay at a five-bedroom vacation home in Hawaii.
