Monarchs are literally celebrities. They are often under the spotlight, and their lives are completely covered by the media.
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, the second in line to the British throne, and his wife Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, are included.
Many have referred William and Kate as the "ideal pair" and considering their relationship as "strong." During the course of their marriage, neither of the two showed any visible envy or tension.
Though many see the couple as a presentation of royal perfection, as a couple, the two did experienced a few bumps down the road.
And on the web, there is no faster way to start a fire than on Twitter.
In this case, mentioning Rose Hanbury, Marchioness of Cholmondeley, former close friend of Kate. The woman is rumored to be the mistress of the Duke of Cambridge, the loving husband of Kate.
Rumors of an affair between William and Rose was flaming hot in 2019, with claims that William had cheated on Kate, when she was pregnant with their third child, Prince Louis.
It didn't take long before the public started to consider their relationship as deteriorating.
Soon after a British publication published the details of the alleged affair in April that year, William took a legal action against the agency, and sent a warning to other outlets so they won't repeat the same "false and highly damaging" story.
The gossip faded after this.
In its place, Prince William became trending hashtag on Twitter in the UK after royal fans defended him against criticism from accounts supporting Meghan Markle.

While William’s warning to the British media silenced the press at the time, journalist Alex Tiffin resurfaced the issue on Twitter on December 28, 2021, responding to a Daily Mail editor’s tweet about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The drama started when editor Richard Eden tweeted, "I genuinely worry that Prince Harry and #Meghan’s criticism of unnamed ‘racist’ royals has increased the danger of attacks on the #Royal Family. Security needs to be stepped up as a result."
This statement came days after a masked 19-year-old, crossbow-armed intruder breached the Windsor Castle's walls in an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II.
Eden’s comments referenced the the famous interview of Harry and Meghan had with Oprah Winfrey when they revealed allegations of racism within the inner ranks of the royal family, specifically when the couple said that there were “concerns and conversations about how dark [their unborn son Archie’s] skin might be when he was born.”
Tiffin referenced "[William’s] affair with the Rose lassie,” and followed up with: "PS. Injunctions from the High Court in London are worthless in Scotland, my residence and no amount of legal pressure is going to erase the fact Prince William had an affair with Rose Hanbury. Enjoy your evening."
"Multiple UK news outlets have had evidence of the affair and his other comments, some even spoke of them on this site before legal threats saw them delete," Tiffin alluded.

This is when the public realized, that the claims actually happened during the same timeline in which Meghan was being told to keep quiet and limit her responses to the media’s unfair and inflammatory stories about her.
This is why several people started accusing the British media of hypocrisy for spreading rumors about Meghan, in order to William's alleged affair with Rose.
While most reports and rumors that spread on Twitter may never be verified, speculations on Twitter usually come with a number of proofs (both real and misleading).
But regardless of the fact, people in the Twitterverse started blaming William for cheating on his wife, and makes the #PrinceWilliamAffair a trending hashtag.
And still, the re-ignited old rumor gathers the royal's loyal followers who are not backing down, as they continue defending the monarch.
