Bali, a place often referred to as the "Island of the Gods," is no stranger to tourists.
After all, the island at the archipelago country Indonesia, is exceptionally famous for that. With cultures the locals hold for generations, Bali is where paradise on Earth comes in the form of beaches, waterfalls and unscathed forests. Local traditions and delicacies, as well as ceremonies, are all unique.
As tourists visiting a foreign nation, they should at least follow local customs.
The thing is, not everyone has that same idea.
A woman was seen misbehaving in public, when she spread her legs and flashed her genital for onlookers.
When the video went viral, the authorities in Bali were furious.

A week later, the Bali Immigration Service detained two foreigners with the initials CM and CAP, both 49-year-olds.
The incident started with a viral video on social media showing two foreign nationals in Bali, riding a motorcycle. In the video, the man, CAP, a German national, is seen talking to a person who allegedly recorded the whole incident. Meanwhile, behind CAP, a Danish citizen, CM, who has her legs spread due to riding the motorcycle, spread them even wider, and showed off her genital on full display.
The man is seen laughing as the woman lifted her right leg to the side to expose her private region.
The man who was speaking to the camera, immediately pushes her leg back to cover her modesty upon witnessing her act.
The two then laughed, and rode off.
The act reportedly took place in the tourist hotspot of Seminyak, a popular tourist destination Bali.
The footage of the Caucasian woman performing the act went viral after it was shared by Indonesian designer Ni Luh Djelantik.
"Bali does not need trashy tourists," the designer said.
"Foreigners are increasingly going too far with their actions. All the enforcement of the rules has not made them learn their lesson," she continued in the caption.
When the video went viral, the police arrested the two misbehaving tourists at a hotel in Kuta, Bali, on Saturday, the 27th of May, 2023.
Due to what they did, the immigration undertakes an inspection and thorough investigation on the case. They wish to know the intention of the woman, and what her, or their motives are.
The two were then held in custody at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office after being apprehended and detained.
"We will therefore conduct more investigations," said Sugito, the head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, in a written statement.
In the investigation, it is said that the genital flashing incident happened a few months earlier.
The two lovers were both in Seminyak at the time.
CM was talking to a local about prostitution in Thailand involving ladyboys who, according to him, would wear a miniskirt so short that their underwear is exposed. In response to her man, CAP suddenly exposed her vagina to the unknown party.
What CAP did, was making an outrageous gesture to illustrate CM’s story.
It was realized that CM and CAP arrived in Indonesia through Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, on April 9th, 2023.
The Danish and German arrived to the Island of the Gods using a Visa on Arrival (VOA), and that they each have a visa permit valid until the 7th of June, 2023.
People in the world have different opinions, and those opinions may be biased due to the different nationalities, the cultures they've been brought up to, the traditions they're holding, the language they speak, and so forth.
Visiting Bali can be an adventurous trip to foreigners. There are well-known places, as well as hidden gems.
But the locals are holding true to their traditions, and that many Balinese follow a form of Hinduism known as Agama Hindu Dharma. Balinese culture and traditions religion impacts almost every aspect of life on the island.
An important belief of Balinese Hinduism is that elements of mother nature are influenced by spirit.
The Balinese culture and traditions also require an understanding of the philosophy "goodness”, which is the origin of the Balinese belief system. It is centered on maintaining a harmonious relationship with God, people and nature.
This is why ceremonies are held often, and that offerings (sesajen) are extremely common, as they believe will maintain peace and balance on earth.
Among others, these are the things that draw people to Bali to see and experience it.
In return, the least Balinese expect from tourists who came to their island, is those who have no modesty and decency.
Ni Luh Djelantik has long been an advocate.
Previously, she also reported a woman who went naked and leaning on a sacred tree.
"TO ALL FOREIGNER WHO DISRESPECT OUR LAND, BALI IS OUR HOME, NOT YOURS !!!!" she said.
