Anything that is not edible can be dangerous. And the worst things that shouldn't be consumed, include poisonous substances.
A poison is a substance, natural or synthetic, that when ingested, inhaled, absorbed or injected, can cause damage to living tissues. In the end, it's injuring the organism, or worse, killing it.
And the worst can happen if the substance is in the possession of someone suicidal.
Chloe Macdermott had been "struggling with her mental health for some years," and that she was using the internet to find ways to end her life.
This was when she met people in an online forum that 'encouraged' suicide, and joined a pact to die.

While anything that isn't edible and poisonous can kill, and many things in one's household can kill, Macdermott chose to purchase her dose of poison through Amazon.
"On or about 21st May 2021 she formed an association with two other persons with whom she planned to end her life" Paul Rogers, Assistant Coroner of Inner West London, said.
"She had purchased [redacted], using Amazon U.S.. On 22nd May 2021 whilst her husband was away from home, she contacted the persons she had discussed committing suicide with and an agreement was made to act that night."
"Chloe died in the early hours of 23rd May 2021 from the effects of [redacted] toxicity on her bed in her home," the coroner added.
Rogers highlighted how the websites used by Macdermott had no age, or other restrictions, in place to prevent access to children, vulnerable teenagers and vulnerable adults.
He also raised concerns over the "availability" of such products on the internet, and how they could be purchased from the United States for individual use, without "effective border and/or custom controls."
He also flagged how there was no "prominent signposting" offering help, and that there was a lack of "effective administration" removing the harmful content on the website.
Rogers also questioned how Macdermott was able to purchase, and later ingest, a product she bought from Amazon which caused her to die.

Just like how it was in the UK, death that is aided by the internet can happen anywhere else.
With anyone having access to the internet, they can visit search engines to look for just about anything. With the many e-commerce platforms all over the world, and how easy it is to ship items from one place to another, from one country to another, cashlessly, it's also easy for anyone to buy just about anything.
And with the internet, people can also visit and join discussions regarding any topic imaginable, including death and suicide.
Internet forums promoting this kind of things, and the ease of access to lethal substances online are under the spotlight following the tragic death of Macdermott.
This isn't the first time tragic incident like this happens, and that Macdermott's death has again brought to light the dangerous role of the internet.

Paul Rogers who leads the charge against this alarming reality, has also written to U.S. tech giants Google and Amazon, to raise the alarm over the access people have to such websites and the ease with which such lethal substances can be purchased.
She wrote to the Vice Presidents of both Google and Amazon, and has sent his report to Home Secretary James Cleverley, Health Secretary Victoria Atkins, Culture Secretary Lucy Fraser and the police.
They have until February to respond to his concerns.
The companies must respond by outlining the action they intend to take to prevent future deaths and a timetable for doing so.
And if no action is proposed, they must explain why.
According to reports, Chloe Macdermott made an agreement to take her own life with fellow members of the pact, including one who was also British.
Macdermott, who was the founder of Kitty Clobber, which sells jewelry for women and cats, was 43 when she died.
