Bing is the search engine from Microsoft. For all this time, it operates using its own brand. But things are changing.
The search engine giant is receiving a rebrand, that changes its name from just 'Bing' to 'Microsoft Bing'. The rebrand also comes with a new logo, which introduces a new shade of gradient blue and softened edges.
According to Microsoft, the new name "reflects the continued integration of our search experiences across the Microsoft family."
Microsoft is also using the moment to expand its 'Give with Bing program', which is an extension of Microsoft Rewards program.
What it does, is allowing users to earn points by simply use Microsoft Bing to search for things on the web. Doing this will earn users points, that users can use to automatically donate to causes they care about.
"Since launch, we’ve been working hard to expand the breadth of the program," wrote Bing on its blog post.
Users can also use Microsoft Reward Points by doing things like playing Xbox games. And besides that, there are also more ways to earn points.
By logging in and going to Bing's dashboard, users can control who their points benefit.
There, Microsoft also list more ways to earn the points.
Through the dashboard, users can also select the organization of their choice, to then toggle on the 'Give Mode,' to switch the donation to automatic, each time they get points through Bing.
While this move can certainly entice more people to use Microsoft Bing and eat away more of Google's pie, it's kind of ironic because it comes after Microsoft Windows introduced an update where users can disable Bing permanently.
But still, it make sense that Microsoft is incentivizing people who actually use Bing.
What's more, not only that Bing will benefit, as the donations to the non-profit organizations can certainly help fund good causes.
