Pinterest Adds A Discovery Option, Helping Users Find Similar Pins That Match Their Interest

People go to Pinterest to discover things, so it's wise for Pinterest to give what users really want.

In its way to boost content discovery, Pinterest adds a 'More ideas' tab which highlights Pins similar to the content that users have previously saved on the platform.

This is only a minor addition, but certainly can improve content discovery on a platform that is seeing more than 5 millions Pins per day.

As explained by Pinterest:

"With the 'More ideas tab on each of your boards and sections, you can explore new recommendations inspired by the ideas you’ve already saved. You’ll also see suggestions for new sections you can add to help organize your ideas."

Recommendation as such should also be useful, after Pinterest in constantly improving its search capacity across its 175 billion Pins. With users having different purposes when on Pinterest, the recommendation feature should prove handy.

Previously, Pinterest has reached a milestone of 250 million users.

Born in 2010 by Ben Silbermann, Evan Sharp and Paul Sciarra. Pinterest approach is somehow unique by not claiming to be a social media. Instead, Pinterest is seeing itself as a visual discovery tool, collection, and storage place.

This is why the 'More ideas' feature is a welcome move.

Following the news, Pinterest has also partnered with Chase + The Scott Brothers to launch a tool to help users turn their collection of home renovation ideas into actual plan of action.

Called 'Chase Dream Boards', users just need to answer a few questions and "get a personalized Pinterest board filled with pins on how to finance, plan and start your dream renovation."

"Pinterest has [...] proven to be an ideal platform to get in front of millennials and first-time homebuyers, especially since many 'starter homes' require some TLC after move-in," said Amy Bonitatibus, chief marketing and communications officer of home lending at JPMorgan Chase.
