Snapchat Introduces 'Creative Studio' For Users To Customize Their Geofilters

Snapchat

Snapchat is on the move, quickly adding new features to its service.

In 2016, the company has introduced the ability for users to create their own Geofilters that are only available in specific physical locations. But to do that, users need to use designing tools such as Adobe's Photoshop or Illustrator in order to make geofilters great.

In May 25th, 2017, Snapchat adds its Creative Studio tool for users to create their own filters from scatch.

Users can use their web browser to access the Snapchat's editing tool. It comes with some preset categories, like Birthdays, Weddings, Business, Food, etc., with each having their own customizable templates. With the tools, users can set their own text, colors, or adding their own graphics or Bitmojis.

With Snapchat announcing its own filter editing tools, its focus is to expand geofilters beyond just businesses, and into something that regular users can enjoy.

But here comes the catch: like before, users need to get some cash to activate the filters, with prices varying on dates and coverage. This is where users are disappointed.

While Snapchat wants its geofilters to be something useful, the asking prices are considered outrageous, considering what users are actually getting. Prices comes cheaper in less inhabited regions but it's still expensive for just a static graphic in an app with no targeting beyond geolocation.
