The "18 Million Retweets" Quest For A Year Supply Of Chicken Nuggets

A 16-year-old high school student from Nevada named Carter Wilkerson, asked the fast food chain on Twitter how many retweets it would take for him to get free nuggets for a year.

Wendy's quick reply was, "18 million."

Carter took the challenge, and the number of retweets started adding up fast. This was when the #NuggsForCarter movement was born.

It didn't take long until the number of retweets went beyond Twitter users' expectations, including Wendy's.

Although Carter didn't reach the previous agreed number of retweets, Wendy's is giving him anyway, especially because his tweet became one of the most retweeted tweet on Twitter.

Carter'’s viral request turned out to be for a good cause.

He managed to raise $100,000 which he donated to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and Pinocchio’s Moms on the Run.

The tweet has beaten the previous record held by Ellen DeGeneres' famous 2014 Oscars selfie.

Ellen has even brought Carter on her The Ellen Show so she could meet him, and win him over with a new TV and a year’s supply of Ellen underwear.

Since then, Carter was later known as "the chicken nugget man" at his high school. The simple request went so viral that it even spawned its very own website with merchandise and everything.
