Barbie or Oppenheimer? This question was asked by moviegoers when they realized that the two blockbuster films have the same release date.
As a result, this created memes, and astonishing eagerness from people, who wish to see both.
The internet couldn't be happier.
This is because it's rare to see two big opposing forces coming up together in one big showdown. Because Barbie and Oppenheimer are two films that really contrast each other, and this kind of moment is something that shouldn't be missed.
And here, an AI-made film depicts that into one Barbenheimer.
The AI-generated short film, is more like a trailer.
Powered by image generation AI Midjourney and movie generator Runway Gen2, it features AI-generated voices supposedly belonging to Margot Robbie and Matt Damon. The project took four days to finish, according to the creator’s Reddit post, where he shared a link to his course on AI filmmaking.
It essentially spliced together the two wildly-hyped movies into a mashup, showcasing a pink mushroom cloud, which has since gone viral.
The trailer offers a blend of the two contrasting films, trying to get them together.
Black versus pink, girlie versus death.
While Barbie and Oppenheimer couldn't be anymore different, they do have some similarities.
I created a Barbenheimer trailer using Midjourney. Hope you guys dig it!

For example, the two blockbusters do have their own desert landscape.
In Christopher Nolan biopic Oppenheimer, which is about the eponymous J. Robert Oppenheimer, the "father of the atomic bomb," the setting is at the film's climactic scene. On Barbie on the other hand, Greta Gerwig made it at the opening scene of her film.
Then, the parallel of the two crosspaths when both the two directors made their two main characters of the respective films to show their good intentions, but subsequently caused irreparable harm.
Both Barbie and Oppenheimer began from a perspective of good, which eventually created harmful legacies.
Either it's Barbie's feminist utopia or Ken patriarchy discovery; the Oppenheimer's Trinity test, the atomic bombs, the handing over of his security files to the FBI, it's up to the viewers to conclude.
In the era where generative AI products have become common, the AI-made film is an example of how online content creators could just jump on board the bandwagon, and create some quick AI-generated content to share to the internet.
As indie developers, these people are agile and swift enough, and can pick up a speed that bigger developers and production houses cannot match.
Thanks to AI, these smaller developers can show the stunning and shocking, the exciting and frightening, the dazzling and appalling world of AI, and how they can impact the industry they're introduced into.
By the time AI products can create lifelike computer-generated humans, and are capable of reusing media assets, who needs celebrities to do the job?
Why use the time-consuming work of artists or editors when people outside the industry can simply use AIs to create a much faster results?
And in this particular case, the Barbenheimer trailer comes as creatives are demanding their rights in the industry, as they worry about the influence of AIs possibly ruining their careers.
The Barbenheimer trailer is the perfect example that describes what some people love, and what some people fear.
