Facebook With 2.5 Billion Users: Rising Revenue, Rising Cost

Facebook has published its Q4 2019 performance report, showing that the social giant has increased both its users and revenue.

According to the report, Facebook managed to add 34 million daily active users (DAUs) for the period, with Asia-Pacific becoming its major growth source.

And in terms of monthly active users (MAUs), Facebook has climbed to a new milestone of 2.5 billion users.

In terms of revenue, Facebook posted a staggering $21 billion, or up 25% year-over-year.

However, this rise costs impede Income growth. According to the company's costs and expenses, the number has increased 51% year over year.

Many of Facebook's expenses come from an increase in employees, which has increased 26% year-over-year. This is because Facebook is looking to expand and push to news content. That figure doesn't count the rise in contractors that Facebook use for content moderation.

More employees means more expenses. And this has slowed down Facebook's overall income growth for 2019's Q4.

As a result, shares in Facebook were sold down in after-hours trading.

But overall, the numbers are performing at a high rate, which translate to good business for Facebook.
