At this time, Minecraft has been around for more than a decade. After being around for that many years, it has proven itself and the world that the game is extremely popular.
Among the ways, include the many fans that kept on playing the game, as well as the many creators who created and upload videos of the game to popular streaming platforms.
And on YouTube, Minecraft videos have racked up a combined total of more than a trillion views.
To celebrate the milestone, YouTube has created a dedicated page for it to showcase the game's achievements.
"If each of those one trillion views were just one second long, that would add up to over 30,000 years," reads an article from YouTube. "If each view were a Minecraft block 12 inches square, you could build a stack that reached from the Earth to the sun and back - with about seven million miles to spare. That’s how big one trillion views is."
The streaming giant also made a video to express this:
Minecraft's developer and publisher, Mojang Studios, has also written a letter to Minecraft fans, telling players that:
"YouTube are celebrating Minecraft today, but not because creepers have broken through the screen and are hissing across their HQ. Well, that’s just one of the reasons. We are also celebrating Minecraft content reaching 1 trillion views on YouTube. One. Trillion. Views!"
"All of us at Mojang Studios are in awe of the creativity and ingenuity that the community shows us, each and every day. The builds you create, the tutorials you put together, the commentary that ranges from scathing to slightly less scathing – it inspires us to make Minecraft the best game it can be."
"I have been tasked with the very honorable mission of thanking all of you, from the bottom of our blocky little hearts. We’re watching, we’re laughing, and we’re learning from you."
Minecraft also created a YouTube video to celebrate it with the community:
This milestone is unique because not many games can remain relevant and popular after more than a decade.
Essentially, Minecraft that is an equivalent of playing with Lego. Its unique approach and gameplay makes it a near-instant hit when the game was released to the public in 2009, followed by a full release in 2011.
Mojang has been updating Minecraft ever since, adding new characters, stories and building blocks to the world, as well as updating its characteristic visual design.
Mojang has also ported the game to nearly every platform out there, and even led it to have a few spin-offs.
Minecraft, the blocky-like game, has certainly achieved something that no other games can.
It's worth noting that the accumulated number that turned out to be more than a trillion views on YouTube, came from everything that involves Minecraft. From gameplay videos to animated Shorts, music video parodies, role-playing videos and more.
Adding all the numbers up, Minecraft has successfully reached a milestone no games before it could.
All that thanks to the community of users and gamers, including a number of YouTube influencers that also include PewDiePie, who managed to build vast audiences through playing Minecraft and creating their own narratives, events and challenges via the game’s open design.
Since Minecraft has been owned by Microsoft since 2014, when Microsoft purchased Mojang's Minecraft's intellectual property for $2.5 billion, VP of Gaming at Microsoft and head of the Xbox brand Bill Spencer is taking the celebration to Twitter to thank the Minecraft community for their efforts.
The @Minecraft community is an incredible group of players and creators that make Minecraft what it is today. 1T views on YouTube is amazing, thanks to the community for making this possible. https://t.co/i1FseYQI78
