Google is the most popular and widely used search engine of the web. People use it to look for information about nearly everything, including electric vehicles.
In a study provided by Compare The Market, the Tesla Model 3 was revealed to be the most searched electric car.
The electric car model came up on top of 'electric vehicle' searches in more than 136 countries around the world, including in the U.S., Canada, Australia, most of Europe, parts of South America, China, India, Indonesia and many more, totaling up to 54.7% of the countries included in the study.
This also includes searches about other Tesla models such as the S and X.
Considering that Tesla doesn't run any conventional advertising, this achievement is huge for the company, in terms of online visibility.
Tesla here, makes up 77.3 percent of electric vehicle searches on Google.

To come up with the number, Compare The Market as the third-largest price comparison website in the UK, used Google search data to find the most popular search term for each of the vehicles, to then compared their popularity in 136 countries.
The site also compared many other electric vehicles, including the Audi e-tron, Lucid Air, and other models that only use a battery to power the vehicle.
Here, the site only found six models that were the most searched for, at least in one country. They include: Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X, Nissan Leaf, BMW i3, and Renault ZOE.
The site however, exclude hybrids (PHEVs) or hydrogen EVs (HEVs), as it considered only the most popular models that solely use a battery (BEVs). "We also didn’t include unreleased or limited release vehicles," the site said.
The study also didn't include some countries due to lack of search data.
Tesla, Inc. is an American automotive and energy company based in Palo Alto, California.
Specializing in electric car manufacturing, the company also sells Powerwall, Powerpack, and Megapack batteries, solar panels, solar roof tiles, and other related green energy products.
The company was founded in July 2003, originally by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, under the name Tesla Motors. In early Series A funding, Tesla Motors was joined by Elon Musk, J. B. Straubel and Ian Wright, all of whom are allowed to call themselves co-founders of the company.
Musk himself, renowned as a serial entrepreneur in the tech business, is already famous for his SpaceX company, OpenAI, and others.
With Musk as the company's frontman, Tesla's already popular brand is getting further boost on internet searches.
Despite critics and myths, as well as those who oppose electric vehicles that include petrolheads, and not to mention, truck drivers who used to block Tesla's charging stations, Tesla in one way or another, get most of the internet attention when it comes to electric and battery-powered vehicles.
Musk said that he envisioned Tesla Motors as a technology company and independent automaker, hoping to eventually offer electric cars at prices affordable to the average consumer.
After 10 years in the market, Tesla ranked as the world's best selling plug-in passenger car manufacturer in 2018, both as a brand and by automotive group, with almost 250,000 units delivered to consumers.
