The Story Of Nirwana Selle, A TikTok Star And A Crane Operator Who Was Burned To Death While At Work

Temperature of orange flames ranges from around 1100°C to 1200°C.

That amount of heat is enough to trigger anyone's reflexes, forcing that person's body to move away in order to avoid injury. The body does this automatically, and that it does that way before the pain is even felt.

But what can happen to someone when their reflexes are futile because the they have no way to avoid the flame? What will happen to a human body when forced to endure the extreme heat for long time?

Obviously, the human body cannot cope with that, and will soon disintegrate.

That is what exactly happened to Nirwana Selle, a hoist crane operator from Indonesia.

The TikTok star was working for PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry (PT GNI) at North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, and was at her post, when the Nickel smelter furnace caught fire.

Cranes are used all over the world for construction, demolition and manufacturing.

While cranes are considered safe, there are risks associated with the use of the heavy machinery. Three of the major concerns include: overloading the crane; materials falling from, or because of the crane; and electrical hazards.

15 months being employed by PT GNI, Nirwana was already a trained professional. Sitting high up, around five floors above the platform, Nirwana was inside a crane's operator cabin, when a short circuit happened.

The spark created a flame when it came into contact with flammable liquid, which quickly engulfed the crane.

Nirwana had nowhere to go.

Confined inside her work space, Nirwana called for help.

Her colleagues who happened to be nearby, heard her cry, but couldn't do anything, since the fire quickly spread beyond the crane and also onto the platform.

None of them could even come close due to the extreme heat.

As a result of this, everyone there could only witness how the young woman was roasted, and burned alive, while still in the crane's cabin.

In a video that went viral, recorded by one of the witnesses, it is said Nirwana's scream could be heard.

The incident happened early in the morning, at 3 a.m..

It took firefighters four hours to extinguish the flame.

It is said that the incident happened while she was creating a TikTok video. But she was caught short of posting it, because of the fire.

Two people died that day.

Besides Nirwana, the other person named I Made Defri Hari Jonathan, also died tragically.

Made died because he was also close to the fire and had nowhere to go. Made was Nirwana's crane assistant operator. He was the only person who assisted Nirwana when she operated the huge crane.

"We never know where God will lead us at the end of the story. All we can do now is try and pray," she said in an Instagram post.

According to reports, all that remained from Nirwana and Made, were their skeletons.

All of their clothes, hair, skin, and even their organs were all gone.

According to her parents, Nirwana was a hard worker, and that it was her own choice that she worked at the high-risk place. She loved her work, and many of her various posts on both TikTok and Instagram, were made in her work place.

Nirwana was looking forward for a better life, and it was unfortunate because she died young.

Born in May of 2002, Nirwana Selle was only 20 years old when she died.
