The Rare Moment The White House Trolls Members Of The U.S. Congress On Twitter

While "The White House" has long been tied to the official residence and workplace of the Presidents of the United States, the term has also been used as a metonym for the Presidents and their advisers.

Normally, it uses its @WhiteHouse on Twitter to archive whatever the Presidents of the United States their Vice Presidents say.

And this time around, the account has been used to itemized hundreds of thousands of dollars in pandemic-related debt relief given to U.S. House members who criticized the Biden plan.

In a tweet, the White House account quoted a Republican representative’s criticism of President Biden’s student loan plan, with a reply that detail how much money that member of Congress had accepted in forgiven loans as part of the Paycheck Protection Program, which was intended to help businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.

In all, the White House account quoted six people:

It al began when Joe Biden, the President of the United States, announced student loan forgiveness.

He announced that he is canceling $10,000 in federal student loan debt (or $20,000 for Pell grant recipients) for people who earn under $125,000 a year.

A student loan, which is in the U.S., is a type of loan designed to help students pay for their post-secondary education and the associated fees, that include tuition, books and supplies, and also living expenses.

The interest rate for this student loan is be different from one type of loan to another, and can also be different if the student is still in school.

And Biden's policy to eliminate student debt is unquestionably wise, but also unquestionably half-measure.

As the many millions of U.S. citizens wish to apply for this federal student loan forgiveness, countless questions are emerging about how it will all work.

When will borrowers see the relief? Who’s eligible? Do you have to apply? The U.S. Department of Education’s website has been slow to load because so many people were searching for answers.

And here, the White House seems to troll the Republicans.

According to Alexandra LaManna, a White House spokeswoman:

"We’ve never hesitated to call out hypocrisy, and we’re not going to stop now."

"It’s important to make clear that many of the same people calling student loan debt relief — which will help the middle class and working families by giving them more breathing room — a bailout for the wealthy had no issue with loan bailouts that benefited their own companies, and no issue with giving tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy."

Biden's decision can be traced back when he was still a President-elect.

At that time, he was asked whether student loan cancellation figured into his economic recovery plan, he declared, "It should be done immediately."

"[Student debt is] holding people up," Biden said on November. 16, 2020. "They're in real trouble. They're having to make choices between paying their student loan and paying the rent."

And as Biden becomes President of the United States, his administration's approach to student loan relief began by improving, extending or expanding a handful of programs that were already on the works.
