In the war between Russia and Ukraine, waged by Russian President Vladimir Putin, no one should stand on his way.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the "enemy", Russia, has marked him as the number one target and his family as the number two target.
While Zelensky chose to stay and defend his ground, Olena Zelenska, was no where to be seen. That, until she finally showed up, by posting an open letter addressed to the world’s media.
Through the letter, she detailing what she described as the "mass murder of Ukrainian civilians."
While Zelenska has actually used social media to highlight her nation's plight, none have been as direct as her post on Twitter, which ends with the rallying cry:
"We will win. Because of our unity. Unity towards love for Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!"
The 44-year-old published the open letter on her Instagram account, as well as on the President’s official website.
She also published the letter in response to what she said was the "overwhelming number of media outlets from around the world" that had requested an interview with her.
As her husband becomes the face of the Ukrainian defiance against the Russian invasion, Zelenska whose whereabout is unknown at this time for her security, has become increasingly vocal to support her husband and bolster international awareness of Ukraine's fight.
"If we don’t stop Putin, who threatens to start a nuclear war, there will be no safe place in the world for any of us."
While Zelenska and her two children are hiding, the First Lady of Ukraine becomes an active social media user to not only support her husband and garnering support from the rest of the world, but to also inspiring her people.
The First Lady is also active on Telegram, where she share posts from her channel.
Zelensky's wife, whose full name is Olena Volodymyrivna Zelenska, was born on 6 February 1978.
Zelenska studied architecture at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Kryvyi Rih National University, before becoming a screenwriter.
It was on 20 May 2019, when Zelenska became the First Lady of Ukraine.
In her early years as the First Lady of Ukraine, she has accompanied her husband on numerous official visits around the world, including to the U.S., Japan and France.
She also used her position to improve children's health, equal opportunities to all Ukrainians and cultural diplomacy.
She is also credited for encouraging the spread of the Ukrainian language around the world.
According to FOCUS Magazine, Zelenska was included in its list of the 100 most influential Ukrainians by Focus magazine, taking 30th place.
Zelenska and Zelensky were once schoolmates, but didn't know each other well that time.
