YouTuber MrBeast Is 'Going Broke' After Underestimating His Massive Giveaway

30/09/2023

The YouTube content creator MrBeast is no stranger in going extravagant.

After all, MrBeast, whose real name is James (Jimmy) Stephen Donaldson, has been credited with pioneering a genre of videos that centers on expensive stunts and challenges.

With subscriber number that is closing in to 200 million on YouTube, there is no doubt that MrBeast is the most-subscribed individual user on the platform and the second-most-subscribed channel overall. According to Forbes, he is the highest paid YouTube creator in 2022.

But in September 2023, he kind of messed up.

At least that is what he said.

MrBeast
Jimmy Donaldson, or known as MrBeast, is known for going extravagant on his videos.

MrBeast, whose videos are known for having high-production costs, is also known for going all out when it comes to cash and competitions.

After all, he is known to have hosted his own Olympic-style challenges to recreating Squid Games in real life, played Battleships with real ships in the name of content, among others.

However, following a stunt for one of his videos, which involves him making a promise to a man, the YouTuber fears that he is "going broke."

This is because in one of his attempts of going superlative, MrBeast offered the man $10,000 to live in a grocery store.

And here, Jimmy seems to be underestimating the consequences, and is seemingly overstretching himself.

"I messed up," MrBeast confessed.

"I bought a random grocery store and told a random person I’d give him $10,000 every day he lives in it."

However, according to Jimmy who is also a philanthropist, "it’s been weeks" that the man remains in there inside the grocery store, and showing "no signs of ever leaving."

"I’m gonna go broke," he said.

This makes sense because if the promise is to have the man stay in the grocery store indefinitely, it means that if the man can stay inside the store for a year, he can easily make $3.6 million.

Jimmy didn't think that someone can survive "living" inside a grocery store, when it fact, the grocery store has pretty much everything for the man to survive.

As long as the person doesn’t run out of food or gets too lonely or requires immediate medical attention, the man doesn’t really have a good reason to leave the store.

In the past, scientists have also put time and effort into answering the question, and that back in 2016, a British academic concluded that one adult could survive for 55 years in a grocery store, in the event of an apocalypse or really negligent shop owners.

YouTuber MatPat has also explored how long a person could feasibly survive inside of a grocery store, and concluded that a person could possibly last over 60 years in there.

Jimmy admitted that he miscalculated this stunt, and may have gotten in over his head.

Jimmy added that the grocery store in question isn't really a functioning shop, and that he has "blacked out the windows and locked it."
