Google Posts Rolling Out To All Google My Business Users

Google Posts

Google Posts is a feature by the search giant that allows people and businesses to create contents and upload them directly to Google's search results.

After much anticipation, Google is rolling out the feature to all businesses worldwide. As long as they are verified at Google My Business (GMB) platform, they can use the feature on both mobile or desktop.

The platform began as an experiment in January 2016 under the name “candidate cards". At the time, they were only available for the 2016's U.S. presidential election candidates. It allowed them to post status updates directly to Google's search result pages.

After seeing some results and feedback, the company slowly rolled the feature out to more users - including museums, sports teams and other organizations. A couple of months later, the feature was available for a very limited number of small businesses.

Finally in June 2017, Google made the feature available to all businesses.

To use the feature, businesses can go to their GMB account. On their Google business listing, they can click on 'Post' located on the left-side menu. There is an option to upload an image, write text or add event titles.

According to Google, businesses have the ability to:

  • Share daily specials or current promotions that encourage new and existing customers to take advantage of offers.
  • Promote events and provide information to customers about upcoming happenings.
  • Showcase top products and highlight new arrivals.
  • Choose one of the available options to connect with customers directly from your Google listing: A one-click path to make a reservation, sign up for a newsletter, learn more about latest offers, or buy a specific product.
  • Posts will show up in both Google search and maps results.

Each post has a limited lifespan of one week during which they will be shown within Google's results. Businesses are allowed to create up to ten posts that show simultaneously via a carousel-type display.
